ABOUT STANLEY'S FISH & CHIPSWe are a proud Canadian Family owned restaurant. Dave & his wife Sue have worked in the Fish & Chip industry for over 20 years. We are not your average Fish & Chip shop. Our mission is to maintain the integrity of English Style Fish & Chips. Born in England, Dave originally trained as a Pastry Chef where he worked at Toronto’s King Eddie Hotel. Here, he proudly recalls serving the Queen’s mom back in 1989. It was only after working part time in the Fish & Chip business, that Dave decided to make the transition into the fast food industry, specifically Fish & Chips. To this end, Dave spent a year eagerly learning the trade in England, honing his skills before returning to dive into his new venture. He has never looked back. As Dave says, “If you’re going to specialize in this business, you better do your research & know you are putting out the best product. There is no point unless you focus on QUALITY, QUANTITY & FRESHNESS. Load ‘em up! I want to look at every plate I serve & know I would be happy eating it myself”. That is why you will find Dave laboriously skinning, boning & cutting 100 lb slabs of fish every morning to ensure it is as fresh & meaty as possible & served with only FRESH CUT FRIES. Dave has received much recognition throughout his career, having collected several Readership Awards along the way. Dave opened his first “Stanley’s” in Aurora. The dream of finding a location closer to home came to fruition, when he founded “Stanley’s East” in Brooklin. Once again, after less than 1 year of operation, Stanley’s was voted “Best Fish & Chips” in Brooklin, receiving the Diamond Readership Award. With each restaurant Dave has opened, he has become a local phenomenon for many customers who search him out from neighbouring cities. “This is our highest compliment”, says Dave. |
